This early puppet series presented the adventures of an orphaned hobo boy named Patches (voiced by Don Messick).

Patches lived a dull and colourless life in the orphanage but escaped his surroundings by using his own fantastic imagination, accompanied by his imaginary friend, Wacky Rabbit (voiced by Larry Harmon).

The 15-minute episodes were broadcast live to air five nights a week from the NBC-owned KNBH studios, with Eddie Baxter providing accompanying organ music.

Producer/writer Charles Shows (who had previously written Time for Beany) worked on storylines with the Parents-Teachers Association and similar organisations.
