One cold, wet night three lost teens – Skip, April and Augie, plus their dog Elmo – stumbled upon a spooky old house hoping to get warm.
The dusty old grandfather clock showed the wrong time, so these helpful kids reset the clock hands. A gong rang out, followed by a voice: “It’s the Spirit of 1776, even, at your service!”
Enter friendly ghost Jonathan Muddlemore (voiced by legendary actor Daws Butler) and his mischievous ghost cat Boo.
The cowardly New Englander had been hiding from the British in the clock since the War of Independence – and the ghost was still nervous.
He and Boo would become invisible whenever struck by fear.
The kids nicknamed the ghost “Mudsy,” and antics ensued when the motley group hit the road in their dune buggy, cracking cases and thwarting crooks, pirates, ghosts, and all kinds of strange characters in this animated Hanna-Barbera series.
