“This is the official emblem of the New Orleans Police Department. You are about to witness a true story of a crime from the official files of the N.O.P.D. The names of all persons actually involved have been changed.”
Detectives Victor Beaujac (Stacy Harris) and John Conroy (Louis J. Sirgo) worked with the homicide division of the New Orleans Police Department (N.O.P.D.). Episodes were based on actual N.O.P.D. files and related their investigations in a Dragnet–style presentation
Harris played his character like Jack Webb’s Sergeant Joe Friday – narrating and questioning the suspects – while Conroy (whom Victor called “John-O”) took notes.
Victor lived in an apartment on Bourbon Street, while John was said to have a home on Shady Pine Avenue.
The acting and camerawork were primitive and wooden – although the series was filmed on location in the Big Easy – and the scripts and storylines were slow-moving.
