26 x 30 minute episodes
This NBC comedy series featured Sally Truesdale (Joan Caulfield), a former department store salesgirl who had become the travelling companion of a wealthy widow named Myrtle Banford (Marion Lorne).
The matronly Mrs Banford was slightly wacky and always getting into scrapes as she and Sally moved from city to city around the world.
The format changed when they returned home in February 1958. Sally and Mrs Banford now spent most of their time helping to run the Banford-Bleacher Department Store, of which Mrs Banford was part owner.
Added to the cast were Mr Bleacher (Gale Gordon) and his incompetent but lovable son (Arte Johnson), and Jim Kendall (Johnny Desmond), an artist in the store’s advertising department who became Sally’s love interest.
Sally was the first filmed series produced by Paramount Television.
