A sister show to Startime(with John Laws), this Sydney-based music show from Australia’s ATN-7 debuted on Wednesday, 5 December 1962 at 8.00 pm.
Hosted initially by John Wickham-Hall, who had been a member of Revue 20, the show concentrated on melodious music, with evergreens, ballads, and popular songs with a nostalgic flavour, catering for a section of the viewing public not served on TV at the time.
Singer Lionel Long took over as the compere on 6 February 1963. The show aired every second Wednesday, at 9.00 pm, alternating with the American series Sing Along with Mitch.
Long and his guests in the studio were accompanied by the ATN Choir and Ballet, and Tommy Tycho and the ATN Orchestra.
Lionel Long died on 1 January 1998 in Sydney. He was 59.
