This six-part thriller series from London Weekend Television debuted on Friday 18 September 1970 and revolved around Fleet Street reporter John Diamond (Alan Dobie) who had escaped from an African jail and returned to England.
He sets out to expose the corruption behind the attempts of big business to exploit emerging African countries – and the confusion of emergent African politics – to amass vast fortunes.
But the guilty men in government and big business are totally ruthless in their determination to keep him silent and so the hunter becomes the hunted with danger dogging him always.
Judy Parfitt co-starred as Diamond’s wife, Joyce, with Iain Cuthbertson as Diamond’s friend and lawyer, Mark Terson.
