15 x 30 minute episodes
Bumbling NASA maintenance men Barney (Chuck McCann) and Junior (Bob Denver of Gilligan’s Island) were loading supplies on the spaceship PXL-1236 at Cape Kennedy when Junior mistakenly hit the launch button – Barney had said: “lunch” not “launch”.
The spaceship sent them to a distant planet where they encountered Honk (Patty Maloney), a 240-year-old furry alien creature with a horn on the top of his head who never spoke, only honked and who had an IQ of 5,000.
The hapless duo spent most of the season trying to avoid the various creatures/aliens they encountered (and who captured them every week) while they tried to get home.
One such creature was Lantana (Eve Bruce) who had a robot called Crakor (Stan Jensen).
In the penultimate episode (‘Destination: Earth’), Barney and Junior gained access to a time machine-like device that took them back to the spaceship on Earth, right before Junior hit the launch button.
Missing their friend Honk, Barney and Junior repeated the launch and started their adventures all over again.
The CBS show was created by Sid and Marty Krofft, who also served as executive producers.
