Sandy Bennett (Diane Keen) and Oliver Pryde (Martin Jarvis) fell in love six years ago and agreed that they didn’t want to do the conventional thing and get married, thus jeopardising their blissful relationship.
Instead, Sandy moved into Oliver’s flat and life continued very happily and harmoniously.
Sandy began to have second thoughts about marriage, though, much to Oliver’s horror. “What difference,” he asked, does a piece of paper make?” Marriage could spoil their beautiful relationship, so why alter what is a perfectly suitable lifestyle?
Sandy and Oliver finally legalised their relationship at the end of the first series.
The second series showed the couple adjusting to married life.
The BBC series was written by Richard Waring.
