Scobie (Maurice Roëves) was unsuccessful, unstable and unable to cope with life. Not the sort of character you would expect to find as a television hero. But he returned with his neuroses even more highly developed in this offbeat four-part thriller filmed in Edinburgh by BBC Scotland – a follow-up to their earlier Scobie in September serial (1969).
In the original series, he was a failed artist, but now he emerged as a failing interior decorator, with his marriage even more on the rocks than before.
The action began when he met a strange Frenchwoman (Alexandra Bastedo) while trying to track down his wife’s lover and became involved in a big-deal art mystery.
