This drama series from Yorkshire Television illustrated each of the Biblical rules set in modern-day (1971).
Peter Willes, head of drama at YTV asked ten writers to choose a commandment and interpret it in their own way. But the commandment wasn’t revealed until the end of each play.
The debut episode (“Decision to Burn”) aired at 9.00 pm on Tuesday 30 March 1971 and starred Anthony Hopkins.
The series started strongly but floundered badly after a few weeks with The Observer lamenting that a writer like Colin Welland had been reduced to trivial sentimentality.
Guests in the series included Donald Sinden, George Cole, Jenny Agutter, Paul Eddington, William Gaunt, Peter Bowles, Ralph Bates and June Ritchie.
