The star of this anthology series from Granada Television was the village hall itself. Each episode presented a different group of characters and a different story – set in the hall of course.
The hall hosted football matches, a writers group, ballet classes, an auction, beauty competitions, first aid classes, baking competitions, a badminton tournament, film nights, “talks”, military reunions, a Darby and Joan dinner, and refugees from a gas leak.
Guest stars over the two series run included John Le Mesurier, George Cole, Ron Moody, Ian Hendry, Arthur English, Bernard Hepton, Norman Rossington, Patrick Troughton, Colin Welland, Lewis Collins, Erik Chitty, Zoe Wanamaker, Dilys Laye, Linda Hayden, Valerie Lush, Liz Smith, Gabrielle Drake, Sue Nicholls and Keith Chegwin.
The series debuted on 16 July 1974 and ran until 6 July 1975.
