15 x 60 minute episodes
This short-lived adventure series tried to apply the ideals of the 60s youth culture to the American Revolution.
Jeremy Larkin (Rick Ely), Isak Poole (Louis Gossett Jr), Henry Abington (Alex Henteloff) and Elizabeth Coates (Hilary Thompson) were members of the (fictional) Yankee Doodle Society, a secret rebel group based in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1777.
Reporting directly to General Lafayette (Philippe Forquet), the team operated as spies behind British lines while pretending to be indifferent to the American cause.
Jeremy was the son of Chester’s Tory mayor (Will Geer) and regarded as the town fool. Elizabeth was a liberated woman ahead of her time and ex-slave Isak was a blacksmith.
The brains of the group was Henry, a chemist, explosives expert and big fan of Benjamin Franklin (whom he resembled). He was always able to invent whatever device or scheme the group needed to finish their missions.
