This mid-80s late-night comedy sketch show from England’s Channel 4 was initially broadcast at 11:00 pm on Saturday nights between 14 September and 19 October 1985.
The show was devised by Paul Jackson, the creator of The Young Ones and Pushing Up Daisies –the latter of which featured the same cast as this new show: Hale & Pace; future Red Dwarf star Chris Barrie, and Carla Mendonca.
Episodes featured black and white parodies of Ready Steady Go! and Beatles send-ups – “Marianne Bumba, I’ve got your number” and <in the style of Gene Pitney> “Because I only . . . sing like this ’cause of my ul-cerrrr!”
There was also a popular soap opera spoof called “WestEnders” and early appearances of Hale and Pace’s iconic characters Ron and Ron (“the management”) and rude children’s TV presenters Billy and Johnny.
