Airing in the TV-am slot after Good Morning Britain, Data Run was a Saturday morning children’s magazine show for kids aged 8 to 14.
The shows were hosted by Glaswegian Edwina Lawrie (the little sister of pop star Lulu) with help from Edwin the computer.
Pop music was a key feature of the show, with artists like Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Spandau Ballet and Boy George being interviewed by school children.
Edwina also chatted to 1980s personalities including swimmer Sharron Davies and Roland Rat and presented features such as a review of the new Ms Pac-Man game, a visit to Whipsnade Zoo and a look around the 1984 Toy Fair.
Episodes also featured a group of dancers called ‘The Breakfast Bunch’. The synth-heavy electronic theme tune was provided by Yazoo.
Data Run came to an end in 1984 when it was cancelled and replaced by the much longer-running Wide Awake Club.
