“East of the moon and west of the sun, As far as the eye can see
East of the moon and west of the sun, I’ll find you and you’ll find me”
This lunchtime kids’ series from Channel 4 was created by Neil Innes. He wrote the scripts, composed the songs and starred in the seven-part blend of children’s drama and animation based on former Monty Python colleague Terry Jones’ children’s tome, Fairy Tales.
All the stories were translated to modern times and contained a mix of reality and fantasy.
Stories included ‘The Witch and the Rainbow Cat’, ‘The Sea Tiger’, ‘The Boat That Went Nowhere’, ‘The Fly-by-Night’, ‘The Silly King’, ‘The Big Noses’ and ‘The Corn Dolly’,
The series producer was Joy Whitby, whose impressive track record included Play School, Jackanory, Catweazle and The Book Tower.
