12 x 30 minute episodes
This BBC1 comedy featured the comic exploits of three unemployed 19-year-old Liverpudlian lads – Tex, Davva and Lenny – out of work and game for anything.
The three have made a pact not to lie rotting in their beds, and meet every morning in a shelter in Wavertree Park to review the prospects of the day. Inevitably, the final scene of each episode takes place in the same shelter at the end of the day, with much ventured but rarely anything gained.
Tex (Steve McGann of The Monocled Mutineer) was the unofficial leader of the group – an optimist, opportunist, entrepreneur and chancer, but not blessed with much good luck.
Lenny (David Albany) was the philosopher and poet of the three, by virtue of his grade four CSE English literature, a qualification highly revered by his two mates.
Davva (Jake Abraham), meanwhile, was unkindly rumoured to be Merseyside’s first living brain-transplant donor.
