    1 9 8 2 – 1 9 8 7 (UK)
    14 x 50 minute episodes

This BBC1 series featured former That’s Life presenters Chris Serle and Paul Heiney taking it in turns to try their hand at new professions with just a few weeks’ training.

Chris learned to be a racecourse bookie, a Sotheby’s auctioneer, a snooker pro, a Fastnet yacht skipper, an opera singer, a butler, a ballroom dancer, a driver in the Lombard RAC Rally and a press photographer (managing to also squeeze in a glamour shoot with Linda Lusardi).

Paul, meanwhile, had a crack at being a hairdresser, a fashion designer, a writer of short stories, a chef, an extra in a film with Michael Caine, and a drag queen, and competing in sheepdog trials at Woburn Abbey.

The concept was revived in the 1990s as Jobs For The Girls with Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson.
