The character of Jemima Shore first appeared in 1978 in an episode of Armchair Thriller entitled ‘Quiet As A Nun’ with Maria Aitken as Shore.
This 12-part series from Thames Television revived the character, with Patricia Hodge now in the title role as the upper-crust television reporter and amateur sleuth who presented the Jemima Shore Investigates programme for Megalith Television.
A determined woman with an inquiring mind, Jemima would often become embroiled in criminal activities amongst the upper classes and found that her professional and personal life frequently mixed during an investigation.
Unfortunately, the concept failed to translate well into a series.
Guest stars included Ian Hendry, Tom Baker, Stratford Johns, Bill Nighy, Brian Cox, Donald Houston, Larry Lamb, John Junkin, George Coulouris, Hugh Paddick, Billy Murray, Alfie Curtis and Jonny Lee Miller.
