This Australian drama from the ABC revolved around three estranged sisters who came together to run the Hotel Isis – a dilapidated old residential hotel on Bondi Beach when they reached a crossroads in their respective lives.
Elizabeth Parker (Kate Fitzpatrick), the oldest of the three, had been abandoned by her husband Len (Grigor Taylor) and left with her two children – Emma and Cale – without money or a job.
Middle sister Jennifer Shannon (Kris McQuade) was an independent idealist who had drifted between jobs and relationships for 20 years.
Youngest sister Louise (Nell Schofield) was a yuppie lawyer with a merchant bank who had recently been sacked over some dubious financial dealings.
Their father, Exeter Shannon, was played by Wyn Roberts, with Paul Chubb as the shifty, misanthropic hotel manager, Hilary, who resented his guests as much as the new management.
The writing team included novelist and playwright Louis Nowra, singer/songwriter Johanna Piggot, feature film writer Bert Deling, playwright/musician Tim Gooding and novelist Gabrielle Lord.
The series attracted scathing critical reviews and low ratings.
