Previously a confirmed bachelor with plenty of money, glamorous girlfriends and no obligations, Timothy Love (Paul Eddington, late of Yes, Minister) had to come to terms with marriage and acquiring three stepchildren.
Nanette Newman played his fiancée, Judy, in her first television comedy series. The irrepressible Henry McGee co-starred as Timothy’s business partner and friend, Dennis Newberry.
The couple married in the final episode of the first series. In the second series, Timothy began to feel the burden of family responsibility now that he and Judy were finally married and he had taken on her rapidly growing children – Charles, Elizabeth and Edward.
The ITV series from Thames Television – with scripts from Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke – debuted on Monday 4 January 1982.
