In this highly successful variation on The Dating Game, participants were shown videos of three prospective blind dates and went on a date with the one of their choice.
They then returned to the show with their dates to talk about what had transpired. Sometimes there was no spark, sometimes the date was a disaster, and sometimes they really hit it off.
The studio audience viewed excerpts from the original videos and voted on which pairing they thought was the best date before the actual date was described. The show would then pay for another date with whomever the audience had picked.
Sometimes participants let the audience choose their date upfront and then reported back to tell how things went.
The original Love Connection ran for twelve years, primarily as a weekday daytime series, with some stations airing reruns late at night. It returned three years later, paired on most stations with another relationship-based show, Change of Heart.
A new version of the show was produced in 2017. 23 episodes were hosted by Andy Cohen.
