Orphaned Melbourne teens Steve Henderson (Paul Smith) and his sister Tamara (Nadine Garner) are sent to the country after the death of their divorced mother, Alice (Diane Craig). Their new guardian is Haven Bay policeman Mike Henderson (Nicholas Eadie), who has no experience in raising kids.
After struggling to adjust to slow country life, Steve and Tam eventually befriend “Cowboy” (Mark Hennessy), “Char” (future singing superstar Kylie Minogue), and Ted (Ben Mendelsohn), the town ruffian.
The gang embarks on a series of adventures, usually involving their nemesis, local property developer Ashley Wheeler (Peter Whitford), who has his greedy eyes on Steve and Tam’s inheritance, Henderson’s Point.
In the second series, only Smith and Garner returned as the Henderson kids moved back to the city and lived in the harbourside suburb of Westport with their father, Wal (Michael Aitkens), who had returned from England.
