Eccentric millionaire Randolph Stonehill (Bob Fraser, who also co-produced and co-wrote the show) is the third-generation owner of Marblehead Manor, a mansion in New England, USA, and heir to the Stonehill corn oil fortune.
Albert Dudley (Paxton Whitehead) is his stuffy, uptight, panic-prone English butler.
Other regular characters include Randolph’s elegant wife Hillary (former star of The Avengers, Linda Thorson), Jerry the hard-working chauffeur (Phil Morris), his brother Duane the handyman (Rodney Scott Hudson) who was always cooking up get-rich-quick schemes that got him and the others in trouble, Lupe the well-meaning but accident-prone Hispanic cook (Dyana Ortelli), Lupe’s precocious young son Elvis (played by Ortelli’s real-life son Humberto Ortiz), and Rick the klutzy Gardener (future Seinfeld star Michael Richards).
Despite the welcome sight of Linda Thorson and the first-rate performance of Paxton Whitehead, this NBC sitcom was an awful pile of slapstick tosh.
