The tiny Mediterranean duchy of Glendorra has a problem. Via an old agreement with France, Glendorra will revert to France unless there’s a reigning monarch. But King Charles (Ralph Michael) has no heirs.
And so the great and the good of Glendorra find four Americans – handsome photojournalist Dan Underwood (Perry King), retired cop Arthur “Art” Henley (Noah Beery), con artist Cody Johnson (Ray Vitte) and department store buyer Carrie Welby (Karen Austin) – who are descendants of one of the former rulers. The four are sent on a quest to prove they have the necessary qualities to rule.
The four had no idea what to do, and intelligence and information was handed to them via poems which they found hard to transcribe.
The contenders were cheered on by Sir Edward (John Rhys-Davies) and hindered by the villainous Count Dardinay (Michael Billington).
This piece of fluff was created by Steve Cannell, the writer-producer who gave us The Rockford Files and The Greatest American Hero. It was pulled from the schedule after just a few episodes aired.
