This short-lived CBS sitcom featured two black sisters – carefree industrial-sized divorcee Vickilyn (Vickilyn Reynolds), who made her living with Small World Miniatures, a mail-order business run out of her converted garage, and gregarious cafe hostess and would-be singer Loretta (Loretta Devine).
The pair lived together in the small town of Ponca City, Oklahoma, with their teenage niece, Toby (LaVerne Anderson) – the orphaned daughter of their late sister, whose good intentions were sometimes derailed when she took bad advice from her best friend Ginger (Dana Hill).
Other regular characters included Toby’s friends Ralph (Troy Searcy) and Brian (Bumper Robinson); big-haired neighbour Bonnie Buttram (Stephanie Hodge) – who had a tempestuous relationship with her trucker husband Cliff (Gerrit Graham); and Moniseur Jacques (Leslie Jordan), the diminutive manager of the restaurant (“Cafe Jacques”) where Loretta worked.
Despite lots of mugging, yelling and hyperventilating, the loud and obnoxious series was not well-received by viewers or critics and lasted just seven episodes.
