This short-lived CBS sitcom featured two black sisters – carefree industrial-sized divorced shopkeeper Vickilyn (Vickilyn Reynolds) and cafe hostess and would-be singer Loretta (Loretta Devine) – who lived together in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with their niece, Toby (LaVerne Anderson) – the orphaned teenage daughter of their dead sister.
Other regular characters included Toby’s friends, Ginger (Dana Hill), Ralph (Troy Searcy) and Brian (Bumper Robinson); big-haired neighbour Bonnie Buttram (Stephanie Hodge) and her trucker husband Cliff (Gerrit Graham); and Moniseur Jacques (Leslie Jordan), the diminutive manager of the restaurant (“Cafe Jacques”) where Loretta worked.
Despite lots of mugging, yelling and hyperventilating, the loud and obnoxious series was not well-received by viewers or critics and lasted just seven episodes.
