TS Turner was a city-smart kid fighting his way off the street until he was framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Amy Taler was a young crusading lawyer. She mounted an appeal to put Turner back on the street, this time in a suit and tie, working as a private detective. Together they are T and T.
This syndicated crime show was filmed in Toronto and starred the inimitable Mr T (the former A-Team star, born Laurence Tureaud) as TS Turner, an ex-con and former boxer who became a private investigator for a beautiful and brainy blonde female attorney after she sprung him from imprisonment for a murder he hadn’t committed.
Ex-model Alex Amini played his partner, Amanda “Amy” Taler, during the first season. Confined by her profession but determined to do good and help the underdog, Amy relied on Turner’s street connections and daunting physical presence to ensure that justice was done.
Kristina Nicoll took over in 1989 as Amy’s sister, lawyer Terri Taler.
Also on hand were Jackie Richardson as Turner’s Aunt Martha, with whom he lived; Rachael Crawford as her daughter, Renee; David Nerman as Dick Decker, owner of the gym where Turner worked out; Ken James as Detective Ted Jones; and Catherine Disher as Sophie, Amanda’s secretary.
In season two, teenage orphan Joe Casper (Sean Roberge) was introduced, living with Dick Decker.
In an attempt to get the series off to a popular start, the producers reportedly offered ABC $1 million to air the premiere episode immediately after the Super Bowl in January 1988 but were turned down by the network.
