    26 x 30 minute episodes

Edie Kurland (Linda Lavin), a bossy, recently widowed Ohio mother descended on her upwardly mobile daughter, Jill (Patricia Heaton) in New York City in this mother-daughter comedy.

Edie was looking for a new lease on life, and she got it with an apartment in the Big Apple, reentry into the dating scene, and –  most surprisingly – a regular spot as lifestyle commentator on Wake Up, New York, the local TV show produced by her daughter, Jill.

Sparks, of course, flew as Jill was now her mother’s boss, but the two bonded by the end of each episode.

Admiring the fireworks were Edie’s neighbour and new best friend Ken (Peter Michael Goetz), Jill’s boyfriend Matt (John Putch) and her associate Naomi (Bess Meyer).
