This superb but short-lived ABC series introduced a mysterious man without a past known only as Mr Chapel (Michael Madsen in absolutely perfect casting), who offered his services to assist people seeking to avenge injustices done to them.
Mr Chapel – who could be reached by phone at 555 0132 – charged $1 million in cash for his services and guaranteed results or a full refund.
If a client couldn’t afford it, he would provide his services for free – on the condition that the client signed an agreement to return the favour whenever he needed it (to help with another case).
The chocolate-loving Mr Chapel – who resided at the Paladin Motel for free (in return for a previous favour), was assisted by KC Griffin (Kathleen York), a gorgeous paralegal who was a former client repaying her favour by helping Mr Chapel help others.
The pair never killed the villains – they simply turned the tables on their targets with elaborately plotted schemes and used their own tactics against them.
