Bill Brown (Arthur Askey) was a former engine driver – originally featured in the 1955 movie The Love Match– who was now a pub landlord in this spin-off series.
Bill’s wife was Sal (Lally Bowers) and he had two children, Rose (Anthea Askey) and Percy (Ian Gardiner).
His regulars were milkman Alf Hall (Danny Ross) and Wally Binns (Glenn Melvyn), who suffered from a stammer.
Askey himself appeared at the beginning and end of each episode.
Ross and Melvyn went on to play the same characters in spin-off series I’m Not Bothered.
