The Painted Valley in the Colorado Rockies was home to Red Ryder (Rocky Lane), a cattle rancher and unofficial lawman, and his partner, the Duchess (Elizabeth Slifer), who owned the Red Ryder Ranch near the town of Devil’s Hole.
Red Ryder rode a horse named Thunder and was assisted by a Navaho Indian named Little Beaver (Louis Letteri) – whose catchphrase was “You betchum, Red Ryder.”
Stories followed their efforts to maintain law and order.
The show was based on the newspaper feature by Fred Harmon. Two pilot episodes were produced, but neither of them led to a full series.
