6 x 30 minute episodes
Former athlete Bob Kerry dies mysteriously on a golf course. His son Detective Inspector Jack Kerry (Gerald Harper, well-known to audiences as Adam Adamant) refuses to accept the coroner’s verdict of death by misadventure and decides to investigate further, taking a period of extended leave from the Metropolitan Police to do so.
He discovers the secrets of his father’s private life and becomes caught up in a web of intrigue set in the Soho red-light district in London, with its pimps and prostitutes.
Jack suspects Rupert Delaney (Murray Hayne) is responsible for his father’s death but finds Delaney murdered also.
He then discovers from Delaney’s mistress, Cathy White (June Barry) why his father was murdered and that the unidentified Mel Harris was behind the killings – and a call-girl organisation that was run by Delaney.
There are more murders (one per episode) and many red herrings before a climax with the customarily unexpected twist at the end.
