“Out of the night comes a man who saves lives at the risk of his own. Once a circus performer, an aerialist who refused the net. Once a cat burglar, a master among jewel thieves. And now, a professional bodyguard—primitive, savage, in love with danger – T.H.E. Cat”
Robert Loggia was a former circus acrobat-cum-cat burglar called Thomas Hewitt Edward Cat (the ‘T.H.E Cat’ of the title) who now worked as a professional bodyguard for hire in this NBC series.
Although successful as a burglar, the fear of capture led him to give up his illegal lifestyle for a more lucrative but still dangerous career protecting people.
Cat worked out of a murky bistro called El Casa del Gato owned by his gypsy friend Pepe (Robert Carricart).
Cat brought a rather impressive set of talents to his work – scaling walls, walking tightropes and carrying a shiv up his sleeve.
The character was based on both James Bond and Cary Grant’s character in To Catch A Thief (1955).
