Thirteen Against Fate was a British psychological mystery thriller series, comprising thirteen individual stories by the French writer, Georges Simenon. The stories concerned people who were seen to stand alone against fate, isolated from mankind by an act of violence.

Although the settings and periods varied, each was a study of a person pushed to the very limit – pushed to murder.

There were no links between each story and no story featured Simenon’s most famous creation, Inspector Maigret.

Situations included two emigre Poles living on the Riviera; a carpet dealer in Brussels on business; a stolid Dutch doctor and a Turkish consul in Batum.

Featured actors included Gwendolyn Watts, Gemma Jones, Hywel Bennett, Joss Ackland, Henry Gilbert, Patricia Healey, Petra Markham, Michael Robbins, Jack Woolgar, Clive Dunn, Frank Finlay, Annette Crosbie, Marius Goring, Mary Miller and Michele Dotrice.
