Shows featured Lionel Blair and His Dancers, The Dougie Squires Dozen, and another of Squires’ dance troops, The Trendsetters.

Comedian Larry Grayson got his big television break on Saturday Variety on 22 January 1972. Reaction to his four-minute appearance was such that he was asked to reappear 14 times.
On the strength of this, he was given his own TV series, Shut That Door.
