This rather forgettable Granada sitcom starred Diane Keen as Daisy Jackson – a predatory charmer who takes over a bankrupt provincial north-country newspaper (called The Ramsden Reminder) in 1959.
Her all-male team consisted of accountant Joe Prince (Geoffrey Burridge), feature writer JP Schofield (Patrick Troughton), gambling sports writer Ben Marsh (Milton Johns), women’s page editor Hector Ross (Gregor Fisher), arts editor Tancred Taylour (Alan David), print trainee Owen Buckley (Steve Pinder) and odd-job man Acorn Henshaw (Tom Mennard).
Circulation initially picked up, but life was never easy for Daisy.
