    16 x 30 minute episodes

Alan Thackeray (Lawrence Pressman) is the token male writer for Women’s Life, a New York-based monthly magazine that is staffed by a bevvy of gorgeous women.

Elaine S. Holstein (Louise Sorel) is the managing editor; Andrea (Betty Kennedy), Gretchen (Simone Griffeth) and Susan (Allison Argo) are writers.

Alan, who lives in Apartment 306 at 461 West 46th Street in Manhattan, is 38 years old, divorced and the father of a pretty 10-year-old girl named Amy (Natasha Ryan).

Betty Brill (Karen Morrow), who lives across the hall from Alan, has a never-seen husband named Harry and believes she is the world’s best problem solver (she has a master’s degree in clinical psychology).

At the office (Room 212), Alan first worked on an article called “Sexual Harassment and the Working Woman”. When he has to use the powder room, he has to remove the ‘Wo’ from the ‘Women’ sign on the door.

Elaine lives in an apartment on East 56th Street in Manhattan, is highly fashion conscious and once spent a night in the drunk tank.

Gretchen has a dry wit, lousy moods and once posed as a centrefold for the girlie magazine Body (“I was a senior in college and it was a political statement”). The sign on her desk reads ‘researcHer.’

Susan Watson was on the varsity swim team in high school and ran track in college.

Andrea Gibbons, who is from Kansas, is the most naive of the group. She has a degree in journalism from Kansas State College and hopes one day to become a top-notch reporter.
