13 x 30 minute episodes
Gordon Feester (George Dzundza) has been a community college dropout, a mediocre soldier, a short-order cook and a used car salesman.
Having failed to distinguish himself at those occupations, he is now in the process of failing to distinguish himself as the proprietor of a “364 Store” – a 24-hour mini-mart that looks exactly like every other 24-hour mini-mart.
Gordon’s problems are complicated by a daffy wife, Gretchen (Susan Tyrrell), a step-son, Terry (Sam Whipple) with a flat brain wave, and two neighbourhood cops, Steve (Jay Tarses) and Edie (Bever-Leigh Banfield), who can’t locate the night manager who ripped Gordon off even though they have several rather helpful clues: the man had one eye and one leg.
The bright spot in Gordon’s life is his new night manager, Robin (Bubba Smith), a mountain-sized behemoth.
Robin just may be a match for the space cadets, sneaky little old ladies and other weirdo customers who make life miserable for Gordon.
The series was based on the British comedy classic, Open All Hours.
