75 x 30 minute episodes
Eek! The Cat consisted of two animated segments, one featuring Eek the Cat and the other revolving around The Terrible Thunder Lizards, starring prehistoric cavemen, Bill and Scooter.
Eek (voiced by Bill Kopp) was a chubby and hopelessly optimistic purple cat who felt it his duty to help people, happily following his motto “It never hurts to help”. Unfortunately for Eek, he was the only one who got hurt in his efforts to be a do-gooder.
Annabelle (Tawny Kitaen) was Eek’s overweight Southern Belle cat girlfriend, who had a pet shark-dog called Sharky. Mittens (Dan Castellaneta) and Elmo Elk (Savage Steve Holland) were their friends.
Eek lived with a human family, comprising Mom (Elinor Donahue), Wendy Elizabeth (Elizabeth Daily) and JB (Charles Adler).
Episodes featured many parodies of films such as A Clockwork Orange, Apocalypse Now, Jaws, Star Wars, Rain Man, Easy Rider, The Graduate, The Terminator and Pulp Fiction.
Meanwhile, Scooter (Curtis Armstrong) was a caveman inventor who was constantly trying to show Bill (Charlie Adler) his latest invention. Bill was never too interested as his number one thought was avoiding the Thunder Lizards, a trio of incompetent commando dinosaurs – commanded by General Galapagos (Kurtwood Smith) – with one mission: to destroy Bill and Scooter!
Notable guest stars who provided voices included William Shatner, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Weird Al Yankovic, Tim Curry, Dee Snider, Fabio, Heather Locklear, Phil Hartman and Mr T.
