When Gwen Leonard (Sharon Lawrence), an executive with a Manhattan public relations firm, and her long time personal assistant, Terry Reynolds (Leah Remini), are laid off, they join forces and go into partnership with their own business venture, called Fired Up.
Gwen and Terry run their PR business from the clock tower apartment on Dwayne Street they share with Terry’s brother Danny (Mark Feuerstein), an aspiring writer.
Their apartment is situated above a restaurant/bar called Clockworks, which is owned and managed by Guy Mann (Jonathan Banks).
Other regular characters include Mrs Francis (Francesca P. Roberts), a humourless unemployment agent who later opens up an eggroll shop, and Guy’s son Ashley (Mark Davis), who is a female impersonator.
