Hot-shot New York lawyer Kate Delacroy (Melissa Gilbert, all grown up from Little House on the Prairie) leaves the Wall Street establishment behind and heads for her Southern hometown, where she hooks up with a small firm headed by the savvy yet idealistic Carrie Grace Battle (Cicely Tyson).
Twenty years earlier, Kate’s mother had marched with Battle in the Civil Rights Movement and now she also felt an affinity for the strong-minded attorney and her maverick practice – much to the dismay of her genteel father, James-Lee Delacroy (Ronny Cox) who wanted Kate to join his tradition-steeped law practice in NY.
An excellent cast, good writing and authentic locations made for a compelling courtroom drama.
