1 9 9 3 – 1 9 9 4 (UK)
20 x 30 minute episodes
This children’s drama series from Granada Television was set in the newly built Barton Wood primary school (a fictional school in the North West of England) and told what happens when problems at home spill over into school life.
Shot on location at a Lancashire school (Callands County Primary School), the title referred to the three main school ages: nursery, junior, and senior.
The series – written by father and son Bernard and Chris Ashley, who were both teachers – debuted on 17 February 1993 and aired on Wednesdays on Children’s ITV. Following a ten-episode run in 1993, the show returned for a second series of a further ten episodes in April 1994.
A number of the young cast came from Oldham Theatre Workshop.
