33-year-old prospector Luke Carpenter (Monte Markham) heads off to make his fortune in Alaska in 1900, only to be caught in an avalanche and frozen in suspended animation inside an Alaskan glacier until 1967.
He then returns to civilisation and moves in with his now-67-year-old son Edwin (Arthur O’Connell).
The 19th-century prospector has no knowledge of the 20th century and looks exactly like his stuck up buttoned-down 33-year-old grandson Ken (also Monte Markham).
Luke now tries to adjust to normal life while keeping his exact identity a secret. But having been frozen in time for over half a century, even simple things like obtaining a social security number prove troublesome.
