Young country mouse Max (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris from Doogie Howser MD) is the baby of a family of mice living in the basement of a Nebraska farmhouse. When he witnesses his family being killed by exterminators, he is forced to move to live with his flower-child cousin Berkeley (Jennifer Darling) under the White House in Washington DC.
There, he finds life more lively than he ever thought possible with his friends – including the roguish teenage sewer rat Jammet (Charlie Adler), the brain-fried and periodically exploding former government lab rat, Muggle (Bobcat Goldthwait), and Moze (Dorian Harewood), the hip wheeling-and-dealing cockroach in Nike sneakers – as they go about their lives in the President’s residence.
The humdrum stories suffered from so-so writing and blah Hanna-Barbera animation. After frequent timeslot changes, the primetime ABC series was cancelled due to low ratings after only seven of the 13 episodes had aired. The Cartoon Network later picked up the show and played the entire series in 1995.
