1 9 9 8 (UK/Germany)
26 x 45 minute episodes
Premiering on 7 January 1998, this British/German co-production was set in the 21st century onboard the space station Unity which was home and workplace to a group of scientists, assisted by robots Roam One and Roam Two.
Judy Loe starred as Kathryn McTiernane, the commander of the multinational crew.
Filmed on the Isle of Man (thanks to tax breaks offered to the production company), the set was built in a warehouse next to the airport, so shooting would have to pause every time a plane took off.
Respected science fiction author Stephen Baxter worked on the series as an adviser.
The series – which surprised everyone by stretching to 26 episodes – was aired as Raumstation Unity in Germany.
