This Tyne Tees production explored unusual hobbies, crazes and sports, travelling around the nation to meet young enthusiasts and discuss the intriguing hobbies, pastimes or collections they were “madabout” – linked together each week by a specific theme (films, pets, the Wild West, cars etc).
Celebrities were also featured, with Dave Lee Travis talking about racing, Nicholas Parsons discussing his love of filmmaking and Gyles Brandreth sharing his passion for puzzles. Other celebrity guests included Una Stubbs, Suzi Quatro, Stirling Moss, Toyah, Eric Sykes, Leslie Crowther, Bernie Winters, Isla St Clair, Gary Numan, Keith Chegwin, Geoff Capes, Christopher Biggins and Sal Solo of Classix Nouveaux.
Michael Bentine presented the first series before Matthew Kelly took over for the final two.
