20-something Isabel Lukens (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) is travelling alone in Rome. Fellow Angeleno Leo Roth (David Conrad) spots her LA Clippers cap. She’s crying, he comforts her, and they strike up a holiday fling.

Returning home, they get to know each other’s families and friends.

Isabel is a bit off-centre and likes to do things her way – no matter how odd it may look to other people. She has an ex-fiancé called Everett (Randall Batinkoff), who is still in love with her. Her parents are David (Cliff De Young) and Eve (Mary Ellen Trainor), and Jennifer (Poppy Montgomery) and Karen (Jane Adams) are her sisters.

Leo also has a problem – his neurotic family: his recently widowed father, Barry (Richard Schiff); his drama queen of a sister, Rhonda (Lisa Edelstein); and his angst-ridden brother Jake (Devon Gummersall).

The series was cancelled after 17 episodes due to low ratings.
