1 9 8 2 – 1 9 8 3 (USA)
26 x 60 minute episodes
This hour-long series from Hanna-Barbera actually contained two standalone segments: Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley with the Fonz.
Following the demise of Mork & Mindy in 1982, the characters were resurrected in cartoon format as part of this Saturday morning series. All the voices for the cartoon version were provided by the members of the original cast, including Robin Williams and Pam Dawber.
A teenage Mork was sent to Earth to observe other teenagers, accompanied by his Orkan pet, a pink, six-legged dog-like creature named Doing (voiced by Frank Welker).
The characters from the successful sitcom Laverne and Shirley had already appeared in Laverne and Shirley In The Army and now added the popular character of The Fonz from the long-running hit sitcom Happy Days, for what was basically the second season of Laverne and Shirley In The Army.
Episodes related the misadventures of army recruits Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney and motor pool private Arthur Fonzarelli (aka The Fonz).
They were all supervised by Sergeant Squeely – the US Army’s only talking pig (voiced by Ron Palillo). Sergeant Turnbuckle (Ken Mars) was Squeely’s superior. Mr Cool (Frank Welker) was Fonzie’s dog.
Cindy Williams had already quit her role as Shirley Feeney on the live-action sitcom in August 1982, so the role of Shirley here was voiced by Lynne Marie Stewart.
Fonzie had previously appeared in cartoon form in Fonz and the Happy Days Gang between 1980 and 1982.
